After completing my Master's degree in Learning and Technology, I learned that the earlier students code, the more successful they'll be. Positivity and confidence go hand-in-hand with how early a student  codes. Countries all over the world have also come to this realization and competition is intense. Schools around the globe are introducing coding as early as kindergarten. My projects aim to engage students so that in the midst of having fun, they learn basic coding concepts. I've always loved the Holidays so many of my projects are seasonal. I have found that my own students are more motivated when they're coding a seasonal, holiday project. Who doesn't like Decorating a Gingerbread Cookie? Or cloning snowflakes so they fall from the sky? I hope you'll check out more of my seasonal coding projects. 

After ten years of teaching and A LOT of heavy research, coding is best learned when it is integrated into the curriculum. For this reason, I have created coding projects that tie into the common-core. For example, 4th graders can learn figurative language by coding a program that illustrates various types: metaphors, similes, personification, etc. 6th graders can demonstrate their understanding of an ecosystem by coding an interactive desert, savannah, or coral reef. Scratch is a great platform for students to show competency in multiple ways.
